Cologne – the dance is coming back

“Since Jochen Ulrich’s company Tanzforum in Cologne had to close in 1997, there has been no dance company in residence, until today, May 10th, when ex-Freiburg choreographer Amanda Miller and her Pretty Ugly Dance Company were announced as the new Cologne based dance company. Now, seven dance-less years later, a cooperation of the city theatre, the city council, the private Imhoff foundation and the independant Kultursalon association managed to errect a 700.000 Euro budget (of 820.000 Euro needed) which is at disposal for taking off the Cologne company from January 2005 onwards. Playgrounds during the next 4 years of contract will be the Schauspielhaus and the Halle Kalk.
